Born in Chicago, but raised in Matteson, IL, LanDonBattles started to build his lane in an over crowded expressway. With nothing but a boom box and a showtime mic, he started practicing his craft at 7 years old. By the age of 15, he started keeping a book of rhymes. Heavily influenced by Bone Thugs-N- Harmony, Twista, The Fugees and R.Kelly, he began to develop a love for the art of rhyming words.
His passion and love for writing and performing music lead him to become a DJ. It wasn’t long before he became an eminent DJ around his college campus and the city of Chicago. Prior to his DJ days, LanDonBattles hosted a radio show called “The Space Station” at Bradley University, his alma mater. This gave him the versatility to attract and relate to various audiences and fans. His intense energy and unbridled rigor allowed him to connect with his fans at every performance.
He has performed at the Peoria Civic Center, Romeo B. Garret Center, Mr. G’s, Club G-Ville, Shadow Bar, Knockouts and The Wild Hare to name a few. LanDonBattles he has 4 mixtapes under his belt; “Mental Lapse 07”, “Poetry-in-Motion 2008”, “Poetry-in-Motion Vol.4 2009” and “DJ Solo Presents: Above Your Aim”. In addition, he has six music videos on YouTube.
“With my talent, I hope to spark knowledge. I want people to get in tune with the art of rhyming words and makin’ timeless music. I reach deep in my soul and pull out lyrics and then make ‘em rhyme. I want to be more than a rapper, I want to be an artist, a rhyme- spitter…with substance.”
